EFREN LOPEZ & ABRACADABRA

Eastern Trails

Another exceptional Swiss premier where fresh and fascinating fusions are revealed on stage. Efrén Lopez is not only a remarkable composer and performer of Mediterranean, Eastern and medieval European music, but also a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist (wheel fiddle, oud, rubab and fretless guitar). After falling in love with rock’n’roll, this Spaniard of insatiable curiosity plunged into Cretan, Turkish, Persian, Afghani and Indian music, and harnessed this exciting mix of influences.

Throughout his long jaunts, this founder of original ensembles such as L’Ham de Foc and Aman Aman and Sabir, has continually enriched and regenerated the art of these modal music traditions, studied under the guidance of reputable masters (Ross Daly, Necati Celik and Daud Khan). For Nuits de monde, four skilful instrumentalists perform his body of original compositions, which take us on a colourful journey through the Mediterranean and Asia.
