Two young musicians of Iranian origin whose future looms bright. By slipping into the interstices of classical Western and Persian music, the guitarist and composer Golfam Khayyam and the clarinet player Mona Matbou-Riahi have unearthed some musical gold. The repertoire of this sensitive and powerful duo, baptised Naqsh (ornament), seamlessly blends genres and dresses them up in multi-coloured, creative variations. This sophisticated performance covers original compositions, improvisations and contemporary adaptations of traditional titles from their native land.
