A musical encounter on the Silk Road

This programme brings together Wu Man, one of the great contemporary virtuosos of the Chinese lute (pipa), and Sanubar Tursun, an Uyghur singer of exceptional talent, who accompanies herself on the dutar. It contrasts two musically distinct yet neighbouring traditions through innovative arrangements of traditional compositions. With the one-off participation of dancer Mukaddas Mijit, this programme promises a fantastic introduction to an artistic universe of rare subtlety.
