Beihdja Rahal is the great lady of Arabo-Andalusian music from Algeria. After having worked as a soloist for a number of orchestras, she founded her own ensemble in 1993. Gifted with an exceptional talent, this singer with a crystal-clear voice shines in her performance of the Algerian malouf (a classical style of music), accompanied by the oud and kwîtra lutes, violin, mandolin and percussion. Carried skywards by exceptional musicians, Beihdja exquisitely creates tarab, the ecstatic emotion that is the essence of this music.
