The Vocal Iroko ensemble was born out of a meeting between the singers Ondina Duany and Amanda Cepero. Driven by the desire to explore the vocal repertoire and rituals of the Cuban tradition, they developed an original polyphonic, harmonic and rhythmic approach, which gives these songs a fresh perspective by combining spirituality, cosmopolitanism and modernity. ‘Pimienta Negra’ – the title of this programme – is a tribute to the African roots of a music which is wonderfully served by the creativity of these talented performers.
This concert will be followed by that of MARIA DE LA PAZ, Argentinian Tango.
