GYPSY DANCES OF TURKEY AND THE BALKANS
Gypsy Tempo
with Nuria ROVIRA SALAT
An educator specialising in anthropology, this artist of Spanish origin has made her interest in Eastern dances a passion and an art. She has been teaching since 2001, firstly in Barcelona, then in France in 2005, where she furthered her knowledge of Arabic and Berber dances, as well as the gypsy dances of the Balkans and East. She has performed in a number shows and danced for Stéphane Eicher, Tony Gatlif, Titi Robin, as well as the Haïdouti Orkestar brass band, Jean Marc Zelwer and the Cirque Romanès. She is also a singer for the Finzi Mosaïque Ensemble and Radio Thrakia Electric.
During this workshop, Nuria will introduce two dances: the Roma dance of Turkey and the Cuçek dance, which is very popular in the Balkans. She will be accompanied by Laurent Clouet on the clarinet, Wassim Halal on percussion and Stephane Zubanu Diarra on the double bass.
