IRAN MEETS INDIA

Hooshang Farahani & the Samvad Trio

The classical music from India and Iran are brought together for one concert: each of these age-old cultures has its own precise codes, but both leave ample room for improvisation. The concert will unfold in three parts. The Samvad trio, comprising Virginia Nicoli, Iginio Brunori and Ciro Montanari, open with an Indian music performance. Hooshang Farahani, a Persian music master, who is accompanied by Jérôme Salomon, follows them. To close, the five musicians will mesh and meld the timbres of their instruments to create a music without borders, where two cultures coexist.

Hooshang Farahani : tar, setar
Virginia Nicoli : bansuri, flûte
Igino Giovanni Brunori : bansuri, saxophone
Ciro Montanari : tabla
Jérôme Salomon : tombak
