A JOURNEY THROUGH THE HISTORY OF ARAB MUSIC
by Maher Kayal
with the participation of Yousra Dhahbi
Maher Kaya comes from Tripoli and is an engineer at EPFL. But he is also a talented and erudite amateur musician, with extensive knowledge of the history and theory of Arab music, as well as that of Eastern music more generally. As a prelude to “Eastern Lutes”, he takes us on a journey through the mysteries of the art of maqâm, brought to life on the ud with the help of lute player Yousra Dhahbi, who we meet again at the opening night of our festival.
In partnership with le Pavillon des cultures arabes (ICAM).
Salon du Livre de Genève, Palexpo.
Within the Festival Les Orients du Luth, which will take place from the 3rd of May until the 6th of May, at MEG and Alhambra, Geneva.
