ARABO-ANDALOUSIAN DANCE
with Saïda NAÏT-BOUDA
Dancer and choreographer Saïda Naït-Bouda has collected traditional dances, and in particular dances of ritual and trance, from all across Northern Africa.
Arabo-Andalousian dances are woven into the patrimony of Al Andalus, the Arab world’s golden age, and were performed in the great medinas of the Maghreb (Tunisia, Algiers, Fez etc)
After a warm up particular to these dances, we will work on movement by developing the strength of the pelvis and verticality. Digging into the richness of the Arabo-Andalousian musical repertoire, we will link the movements to the rhythms and melody.
