ENSEMBLE TCHANG

concert

Classical Persian music

Tchang means harp, the Persian harp that disappeared during the seventeenth century after thousands of years of existence.  The Tchang Ensemble not only explores the impressive Persian music repertoire, but also other forms and styles that are rarely played and often forgotten.  The group devotes itself to highlighting the links that unite music and poetry.  Consequently, the musicians focus on the preservation of Persian poetry’s inherently intimate character, the refined melodic intonations and the richness of musical-poetic metres.  The Persian poets Hafez, Saadi, Khayyam and Mevlana provide the foundations of the group’s repertoire, which is performed with rich instrumentation.
