The Toubafine group, which formed in 2007, draws its inspiration from East African Mandinka music to create a rich and dynamic musical ambience. Born into a family of griots from Bobodioulasso in Burkina Faso, Kassoum Coulibaly began learning the music with his grandfather from a very early age. This energy, which draws on the sources of the tradition, plays an important role in the nomadic customs of the Toubafine and is characterised by the confluence of genres and aesthetics. In the Malinke language, toubabou is the white man and farafine is the black man; Toubafine symbolises their encounter.
