Kala Jula Sangoyi (fiery nomadic archer) is the nickname of the griots’ mythical ancestors. Firmly rooted in the griot traditions of the Malian Mandé hunters, yet resolutely modern, Kala Jula’s music constitutes both an ode to cultural blending and a remarkable development in the art of Mandinké guitar. Samba Diabaté is one of the most esteemed guitarists of Bamako and Vincent Zanetti is a respected multi-instrumentalist and specialist of West African music.
