Far from the well-trodden paths of touristic folk music, Alpine music is currently reinterpreted by musicians from many different backgrounds. Their trajectories have often passed by jazz, popular music or contemporary music, but they have all felt the need to shade their creativity with the overtones of a shared heritage, made of a blend of yodel and Alpine horn, open spaces and old ancient tones.

Each one has done so in their own way. Artists like Balthasar Streiff, Erika Stucky, Noldi Alder, Hans Kennel, Jean-Marc Jacquier or Michel Bianco have forged new paths, leaving their mark on our old musical mountains. The originality and diversity of their approaches is impressive: we see within this range as much the urgent desire for renewal as the challenge of multiple affiliations with which we are now confronted.
