Does Swiss music have a future outside the simple perpetuation of traditions? The commercial kitsch for tourists or the improbability of intercultural fusion do not seem to respond satisfactorily to this question. Noldi Alder, descendant of an illustrious Appenzell music dynasty seeks another path and explores it with Klangcombi. Here tradition does not impose rigidity but provides tools for contemporary creativity. The Klangcombi members are from different Swiss German cantons and offer imaginative expressions of tradition, which provides the base for a performance that is both sensitive and brilliant.
