The choro (which means ‘tear’ in Portuguese), better known by its name chorinho (little tear), is a style of popular Brazilian urban and instrumental music that has existed for 130 years. Despite its name, the style generally consists of a joyous and captivating rhythm, characterised by the virtuosity and improvisations of its participants. The classic instruments of this genre (guitar, its smaller version the cavaquinho and the tambourine pandeiro) combine here with Eduardo Kohan’s saxophone.
