David Brossier studied with musicians in Romania and is now a violinist with the group Çok Malko. His repertoire includes traditional music from Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey, though music from the Rom community remains his passion.
Wassim Halal plays the darbuka with numerous ensembles and performs Turkish and Middle-Eastern music. He is interested in all types of improvised music and often works with artists of various backgrounds.
These classes focus on rhythms from Turkey and the Balkans. Students will explore the repertoire either from a rhythmic or melodic angle, before practicing all together.
