Since her early childhood Maria Robin has been immersed in the music and dance of the East and central Asia. She has trained under the tutelage of Gulabi Sapera in Jaipur for almost fifteen years. She regularly performs as a singer and dancer with her father, the musician Titi Robin, and in a duo with the Iranian musician Shadi Fathi or with her music group, Mon Ivresse. She teaches Rajasthani dance and the techniques of swirling during workshops, master classes and regular courses. Maria Robin's website
This workshop is devoted to the dances of central Asia, to those of the Rajasthani nomads and those linked with Sufism. Introductory and advanced classes on the basic techniques of the swirl (feet, axis, gestures) allow students to progressively discover the pleasure of swirling and improvisation. Through this technique and feel for the dance, Maria provides the keys for a personal, sensitive and spiritual expression.
