BULGARIAN POLYPHONIC SONGS
The mysteries of song
with Tvetzanka VARIMEZOVA
Born in Bulgaria where she trained in traditional singing from a young age, Tzvetanaka now teaches at UCLA in California. She has enjoyed a national and international career working with prestigious ensembles such as ‘The mystery of the Bulgarian voices’, and has recorded numerous albums. A singer with a honey-toned voice, she is also a teacher gifted with an exceptional charisma. She directs and oversees several choirs across the globe, including ‘The Angel of Montbrillant’, led by Nabila Schwab in Geneva.
This course is an opportunity to tackle several songs from the Bulgarian traditional repertoire. It will focus on the variety of regional styles and polyphonic configurations, as well as working on embellishments and the traditional use of the voice. The workshop is aimed at people who have some knowledge of vocals, but not necessarily of Balkan singing.
