ZIRYAB’S JOURNEY

Company Bab Assalam (Syria-France)
Young audience - Saturday 5th of May - 3:30 pm / Les Z'Ethnos
(7 y.o)

Born out of an encounter between Syrian and French musicians, Bab Assalam presents a musical evocation of the long roads of exile. The figure of Ziryab, the great musician of the nineteenth century who was forced to leave Baghdad for Andalusia by a jealous master, is the main drive of this programme. Bab Assalam offer us an engaging introduction to a music of multiple influences, drawing on the repertoires of the musician poets who followed the caravans: a fantastic alchemy between tradition and modernity, East and West.

Khaled Aljaramani : oud, chant
Mohanad Aljaramani : percussions, chant
Philippe Barbier : guitare
Raphaël Vuillard :  clarinettes, live électro
