Slavic orthodox song
with Yan Greppin
in partnership with Chanter la beauté du monde
Yan Greppin is the director and founder of the a cappella ensemble Yaroslavl. Having focused on Greek, Romanian and Slavic orthodox singing, he then formed a Byzantine singing group under Simeon of Cantauque. He regularly travels to Russia for music, where his ensemble performed several concerts in 2012.
The workshop
This workshop presents a musical history of the Russian liturgic tradition. With explanations and close-listening, it provides a chance to experience four orthodox pieces of great beauty.
