Music at the Crossroad

This autumn Nuits de monde follows the road less travelled. Along the way, musical visions and authentic expressions of East and West meet and infinite. There we experience an East of multi-coloured variety, which extends from the Maghreb to Japan and passes through the musical styles of the Near and Middle East; and a West that is just as diverse, where musicians borrow as much from classical music as they do from jazz and rock – or even electro.

Almost fifty years on from the famous encounters between Ravi Shankar and Yehudi Menuhin, or the Eastern explorations of John Coltrane and George Harrison, the expressive range of musical fusions remains infinite. Entirely committed to their search for universals, the invited artists offer us music of endless diversity.
