Sitar, tabla and song

Ustad Shujaat Khan : sitar, voice
Nihar Mehta : tabla

Born in Calcutta, Shujaat Khan is not just anyone in the world of Indian music: he is the son of the legendary sitar player Ustad Vilayat Khan, who, according to the experts, is the greatest Indian musician of the twentieth century. Shujaat Khan has inherited an extraordinary musical style - of incomparable virtuosity, subtlety and inspiration. He is not just a sitarist, but a singer also, and he garnishes his interpretations of the classical ragas with the most beautiful effects.

Well-known on the international scene, Shujaat Khan is also open to intercultural exchanges. He is accompanied for this concert by the tabla player Nihar Mehta, a direct disciple of the famous Pandit Kishan Maharaj. Their dialogue, which is stamped with complicity, respect and challenges, promises us a rare moment of Indian music, in the pure tradition of the great masters.
