THE AVANT-GARDE OF SEVILLIAN FLAMENCO

Radix

The performance of the young and brilliant trio VAN3uard Percussion, brought together by the dancer Fuensanta Bianco and guitarist Jose Carlos Escobar, proves with panache that tradition, innovation and the avant-garde are not incompatible.

Radix (Roots) mixes flamenco with modern percussion and a powerfully expressive choreography. The complex rhythmic structures of the popular Spanish musical tradition generate genuine vocal and instrumental prowess which then stresses the virtuosity of the body percussion.

Throughout this, the guitarra and the cante flamenco neither lose their heart or soul: they remain filled with duende, the mystical sentiment that is uniquely Spanish. This inventive quintet takes us progressively through the history of flamenco, from deeply traditional covers to the works of Tomás Pavón and Paco de Lucía, original compositions and even a version of the legendary ballet El amor brujo from the cante jondo apostle: Manuel de Falla.

Agustín Jiménez, Víctor Lopez, Néstor Pamblanco : percussions instrumentales et corporelles
Jose Carlos Escobar : chant flamenco, guitare
Fuensanta Bianco : danse

A part of the percussions played during this concert is provided by the Eklekto Geneva Percussion Center, a structure which highlight and develop contemporary percussion.

The other part of the percussions is provided by Shobidoo.
