The Senem trio brings together three artists from different Silk Road cultures: the Turkmen Leyli Karryeva, the Iranian Roshanak Ostad and the Uyghur Mukaddas Mijit. Together they create a universe inspired by the oral traditions of central Asia, perform children’s stories, spiritual poetry and love songs, traditional Turkmen and Uyghur music and dances and produce drawings on stage. This fusion of the senses takes the audience on an extraordinary journey, where poetry and the fantastic permeate each moment.

Mehmet is a young musician, full of dreams and ambitions. With a heart hungry for adventure, he leaves his native Turkey for the roads of Central Asia in the hope of finding inspiration. With his songs, ‘Mehmet hopes to heal, inspire tears and bursts of laughter’. Crossing Persia, the Afghan Empire, the Indian Kingdoms and the Taklamakan Desert, the young boy learns to become an accomplished artist and man. An exhilarating journey through the Sufi universe and the music and dances of central Asia.
