MALICK PATHE SOW and BAO SISSOKO
Senegalese Fula and Mandinka music
Part 2
Malik Pathé Sow : song, guitar, luth hoddu
Bao Sissoko : song, harpe-luth kora
Malik Pathé Sow is considered one of the most important ambassadors in Europe of Senegalese Fula music. A singer with an inviting voice, he has also mastered the art of plucked string instruments, whether it be the guitar or the Fulani hoddu (lute). As for his partner of choice, the amazing Bao Sissoko (a Mandinka griot), he is known for his fine and brilliant mastery of the kora.
Their duo plunges us into a poetic universe that is both moving and of a profound serenity. The sweet melodies of the African harps and lutes weave in a natural unison with the marvellously warm and welcoming voice of Malik Pathé Sow. Modern yet faithful to tradition, the two musicians repertoire alternates between current societal issues and narrations that foster the memory of a people and the richness of their musical and oral heritage.
