Michael “Blackie” O’Connell is one of Ireland’s best players of the uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes).  Studying under his father and then with Irish gypsy musicians, his virtuosity soon allowed him to play with the best musicians in the country. The group performing tonight is remarkable in its complicity and warmth and is characterised by the dynamic rhythms of the Western Irish tradition.
