GAGAKU

Japan Imperial Orchestra
Ono Gagaku Ensemble from Tokyo

Despite the vicissitudes of history, the Gagaku has maintained a lively tradition. This court art, which includes the dance Bukaku, was only revealed to the West at the beginning of last century. Permeated with Shinto codes and symbols, the music reveals accomplished orchestration. The appearance of Ono Gagaku-Kai from Tokyo is an exceptional event, due to its rarity and the quality of its performers.
