2 films by Masaki Kobayashi (1964)

In 1964, Masaki Kobayashi directed four films based on the collection of stories entitled Kwaidan or Stories of Strange Things. Two of these tales, which perfectly illustrate the festival’s concerts through their poetic intensity and pictorial sumptuousness, will be screened. The Women of the Snow is about a mysterious goddess, while Hoichi the Earless offers an interpretation of the famous battle of Dan-no-ura.
