MASTERS OF OVERTONE SINGING
Documentary by Jean-François Castell and Johanni Curtet (2010, 53’)
Shot in Mongolia and then in France, this film follows the Dörvön Berkh ensemble, made up of four of the greatest masters of Mongolian overtone singing. The young researcher and ethnomusicologist Johanni Curtet had the idea to reunite them for a series of concerts and an album recording. From the borders of the Altai steppes to the beginnings of the French tour, this film offers the viewer a rare musical and ethnographical experience.
