Constantin Brailoiu’s universal collection is already a classic in ethnomusicology. The 174 recordings included on the album cover the period dating from 1913 until 1953. Meticulously selected according to artistic and scientific criteria, they provide an extraordinary map of the world music traditions of the first half of the 20th Century. These are further enhanced by the learned Romanian’s erudite commentary and some superb photos from that period.

"The World Collection serves as an impressive and, indeed, a moving testament to the work of one of the ethnomusicology's great, but little known, figures" (Philip Yampolsky, Yearbook for Traditional Music)
