This album reveals a polyphonic tradition that is unique to Eastern Indonesia.  The art of duos, which gives rhythm to ceremonial and agricultural activities, combines the rough and the soft, as well as the intimate and the public.  The singers master a large variety of vocal techniques, from harmonies through to counterpoints, which allows for the proliferation of numerous repertoires and styles, though the dominant characteristic remains the tight intertwining of voices.
