A small bowed string instrument of which various versions are found in neighbouring countries, the gadulka is an instrument of popular and refined music in Bulgaria that plays very subtle rhythms.  This album highlights the music genre “urbanism of rural descent”, which is both faithful to tradition and to innovation, in a framework marked by the ups and downs of history and political change.
