This CD explores the group singing of the Biboki region of the western (Indonesian) half of the island of Timor. While in other parts of Indonesia (and the rest of the world) localized musical styles are increasingly eclipsed by styles with the cachet of big cities or international media, in Biboki a multitude of musical styles coexist. They range from church harmony through parallelism to an explosive surging of many loosely coordinated voices. The CD demonstrates a vibrant musical pluralism.
