The chakri is a very popular musical genre from Kashmir. Generally played during festive events (marriages, birthdays, regional festival, religious celebrations..), it is made up of a range of vocal pieces accompanied by a small instrumental ensemble. The sung-poems focus essentially on love themes, in which the greatest Kashmiri poets have distinguished themselves.

Mohammed Abdullah Bhat Shaksaz is a renowned performer. He performs frequently at big social and religious events. With the soul of a troubadour, this singer of incredible timbre and soaring melodies is also a remarkable sarangi player. The ensemble includes the singer and composer, Rehmatullah Khan, a ghazal specialist, as well as Mohammad Amir Jan, a rabab player of delicate touch and the virtuosic percussionist Zahur Ahmad Shah.
