At the heart of Afro-Brazilian culture

The great Brazilian musician Edmundo Carneiro, in partnership with the Musée des Confluences de Lyon, has brewed up some fantastic projects that focus on the Northeast of Brazil. A jubilant percussionist, exceptional composer and a candomblé initiate, Edmundo Carneiro has been on the music scene for over thirty years with some of the greatest players. Today he takes us on a poetic, musical and spiritual journey to the heart of Afro-Brazilian culture.

First off, there is the exceptional presence of the masters of Candomblé Ketu, one of the most renowned brotherhoods of Salvador de Bahia. Another highlight: an evening dedicated to two musical creations, one for guitars and the other for brass. The premiere of the film ‘Hibridos, spirit of Brazil’ offers fascinating insights into the spirituality and music of Brazil. And the festival would not be complete without the show ‘Itàn Jó’ for the younger public, as well as the diverse entertainment offered by representatives of Brazilian culture in the Geneva region.
