Vietnam consists of 54 ethnic groups, of whom the Viet people form the majority (86%). The other communities essentially live in the mountain provinces of the north, but also in the centre and the southern regions of the country. The four most important are the Tày, Thai, Muong and Khmer.

The programme for tonight brings together an ensemble of Tày singers, who accompany themselves with the lute dàn tính, and a flute and percussive duo. This presents a look into the sounds and instrumental techniques that coexist in the Vietnamese territory.
