The Wagogo, an ethnic group from Tanzania’s highlands, are the custodians of one of the most beautiful and subtle African music traditions. Their magnificent polyphonic songs comprise up to six different voices and their instrumental music is also very rich and varied. A particularity of the Wagogo tradition is that the drums (n’goma) are always played by women, who sing and dance at the same time. The twelve members of the Nyati ensemble – six men and six women – allow us to discover a rare and fascinating artistic tradition.
The entrance to this concert also gives access at 3.30pm to the film Africa The Beat.
