AS I OPEN MY EYES
Fiction by Leyla Bouzid (Tunisia, 2015, 102’)
MEDITERRANEAN // Alhambra
Tunisia, just before the fall of President Ben Ali. Recent graduate Farah dreams of music and plays in an anti-establishment rock group. She loves, drinks and sings in cafes that only men frequent. Her mother is scared and wishes to protect her from a world that she judges to be hostile, and above all from herself. In this uncompromising film Leyla Bouzid offers us a glimpse of incredible vivacity and, in a certain way, a tribute to a youth that she would also like to live.
