ITALIAN MEDIEVAL MUSIC
Ensemble Micrologus
The members of the Micrologus ensemble are among the pioneers of the Western European medieval music revival. Their approach is based on in-depth research into the heart of popular Mediterranean traditions – a quest to uncover contemporary traditions that are living proof of the continuity of musical expressions in the different regions explored. Far from seeking to imitate these techniques or ways of singing and playing the repertoire, they are inspired to create a musical language that is respectful of the tradition’s roots and creative in its application. Grounded in the music of fourteenth-century Italy, their programme both persuades and moves us.
