IRANIAN PERCUSSION : FROM FATHER TO SON
Chemirani Trio
Who better than Djamchid Chemirani and his two sons, Kevyan and Bijan, to present a Persian percussion trio without falling into dry technique or elitism? From father to son, from master to student, the tradition has been perpetuated from childhood in this family. While drawing on traditional rhythms, the Chemiranis compose and develop forms based on polyrhythms and a multiplicity of timbres; the trio reveals the infinite possibilities of Persian percussion to listeners. The perfect conciseness of language, the giddy circulation of dialogue, and the infinite variation in strikes all combine to make this family project a live show success.
