The Gangbé Brass Band was founded in 1994 by a group of Beninese brass and percussion musicians, who learned to play from elders in the country’s churches and marching bands. In 1997 the group began its first tour of Europe and recorded its first album, and went on to win the cup for ‘Best African group of modern music inspired by traditional’ at Nigeria’s All African Music Awards in 2015. Whether on stage or in the street, dancing and festivities go hand in hand with this dynamic group, which mixes afro beat and jazz, the magic of brass, percussion and polyphonic singing.
The concert will be preceded at 7 pm by a projection of the Arnaud Robert film 'GANGBÉ!'. Cinema tickets will sell directly on spot, the very evening of the screening.
